They know those mountains and have been at war for decades, if you don't want to count centuries, which is why Buttfagistan has never been really conquered.

Now imagine Iran is even MORE fucking mountainous than Afghanistan, and larger, and their military is far better equipped than the haji fundamentalists using Russian shit from fifty years ago. A real ground war against Iran would be absolute hell and worse than Iraq and Afghanistan combined. We would suffer many, many casualties.
