This is literally what happened to me. Although I don't think she was mirroring me, we honestly had everything in common. We both loved Aqua Teen and we watched it together a lot. She even put on Super Jail our last night together.

I am a male clinically diagnosed with NPD and BPD. It is very easy for me to get girls. I can make them like me within 1 day. Vast majority of time it has no fulfillment though so I will quickly drop them. I use to fight and argue but thru therapy I have stopped and become much more distanced emotionally and do things with purpose

I have no issues speaking to women at all nor am I some insanely attractive person I just interact with them easily and figure out how to get them attached to me quickly. If they don't engage, don't feel chemistry or they don't give in to my advances I will just entirely drop them

There are a few things DBT does well which allows progress to be made:

It makes BPDs participate in a group so that they can observe each other.
It makes them reflect on and write down what actually happens in their life based on their behaviors, step by step.

I have very high empathy that's part of the problem. When I engage with it I get extremely emotional and erratic. So now I just keep my distance for myself to protect myself. With practice it becomes easier but got to keep doing it

Because your entire childhood and young adulthood is training habits and behaviors that you developed to cope and things that simply works for you. To unlearn them and replace with others takes a lot of work by the person and trusting that the other ones are better

I shared all my post if anyone wants to read them. I am diagnosed with NPD and BPD clinically as a male. Those are some of my insights from my experiences and what I have learned to deal with things thus far.

What I will say last is personality disorders are simply a collection of dysfunctional behaviors and coping mechanisms. The goal is continue to work towards having more adaptive behaviors not "cure" oneself. One piece at a time gradually reducing the severity of the symptom. Let us say the issue goes from a 8 to a 5 is good

This photo isn't very scientific but it gives you an idea of what I am talking about. There is no medication at all for any personality disorders such as NPD, BPD or ASPD as they are not so much chemical issues but behavioral issues unlike many other disorders like bipolar which do have meds or schizophrenia

That means though that there can be a lot of improvement with self work. Just it is attempting re-route behaviors you have since childhood as your entire childhood and adulthood is like going thru your own school system of life developing coping mechanisms, behaviors, reactions to protect self and seeing you believe works for you. The manifestation of these when they are overall dysfunctional is that you end up fitting traits for a personality disorders.

The only things that can be "born with" per say is type 1 psychopathy which is more genetic than type 2 which is more developmental. There probably is some type of genetic component but that is less of the big picture than behavioral training, it's only a piece of the puzzle.

I was raised by a BPD mother who was also dragged the whole family into apocalyptic death cult type of Christianity. 20 years. I've been out for almost 10 and I still don't know who I am or what I am, and my emotions and ability to empathize/sympathize are damaged beyond repair, and am anxious about any kind of intimacy or completing anything past the most basic of tasks.
