Island Freehold Theory.
That continental elites in both Germany and China/Korea set up independent colonies in Britain and Japan respectively forming the basis for Anglo-Saxon Britain and Yayoi/Kofun Japan. While repressive against the indigenous populations, did absorb enough of their characteristics to be distinct from their continental cousins both ethnically, linguistically and politically.

So it seems the Hayato were like the Yamato, Proto-Japonic speaking but spoke dialects closer to Ryukyuan to which it was likely ancestral to. Emishi were likely Ainuic albeit more advanced technologically than the Hokkaido, Kuril and Sakhalin Ainu.

Also the Anglo-Saxons and Yamato peoples were themselves likely composite people from Europe and Asia respectively. Bede the Venerable supports this theory for England.

Bede even mentions Huns being among the colonists... Of whom were already fragmented in the West by then.

Huns means Sarmatians, Scythians and Alans. It was the Great Trek of antiquity fleeing from Xianbei warlords.

Alans were widely known as Mercenaries especially for Brittany on the Frankish March. I think Bede is directly referring to the Xiongnu remnants in Germania. They were overthrown but little mention of their extermination. Likely just overthrown. Xianbei were ancestors of the Avars who indeed pursued and vassalised the Hun/Xiongnu/Bulgar tribes.

"Anglo-Saxons" is the name for the alliance of the Angle, Jute, Frisian and Saxon peoples who came together to invade medieval England after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire - whose descendants would come to be the modern English

True. Bede also mentions Frisians, Rugini (Possibly Slavs), Danes, Huns and Boructuari (Frankish Tribe) being among the migrants however. Though mainly those people you mentioned, I don't believe it exclusive especially considering the ties between Anglo-Saxon England and the Polabians and Danes. Here's an unrelated map of Medieval Volga.

In essence my point is rather than a direct colony like America was, was more akin to /pol/ gathering a bunch of fellow rogues to conquer an island to found a new country.

Bonin was a similar case. First was British/American, then Japanese, then American again and finally Japanese. The original Colony of Peel Island was a diverse rabble which eventually became a fully fleshed culture derived from European, Hawaiian, Micronesian and Japanese people.

Japan basically has a censor on the place.
