If you haven't already done it you will never have a young family(which is the peak of human existence) and you've got 10-15 years left until you are 50. If you aren't going to build a family then sharing your living space and having a relationship is pretty much pointless beyond the sex, which is now more readily available due ot online escort services. In terms of jobs and career it's hard to get motivated when you know that your best years are behind you and you only have to survive for another 20 odd years. Many people by age 35-40 have done these things and are diverced and broken so you can't really win. People aren't ageing as badly as they used to and you can still enjoy an active life but the social ramifications are still the same as they've ever been. It's old.
