Why have so many Gen-X'ers flamed out and died/killed themselves/overdosed/given up so far instead of working harder to improve themselves and the world? You can make fun of the Boomers, but they really did exercise willpower in order to reshape the world in their image. Why can't Gen-X say the same?

Not even close. The 'Millennial' generation begins somewhere between 1982 and 1985. The term was first used to describe the graduating class of 2000 - the new millennium. AKA, kids born in '82 or afterwards.

it comes from the strauss-howe generational theory

I get what you're saying, if I had it my way everybody born in between 85 and 2000 would be "millennials" but millennials actually stop at the year 97
the last Gen X dudes were born in the late 70s

Lol. No. Millennials don’t even real get going until 1988/1989. Everything between 1981-1984 is Xennial territory. 85 to 87 are cuspers.

Anyone over 40 is Gen X.

We gave up because it really is hopeless, unless you fight EVERYONE around you.

I struggled all my life to become a professional writer and now ZOG has taken that from me. I have no way to support myself and I owe $4,450 in rent currently.

Don't have casual sex outside of marriage. And if a man stops talking to you because you won't have sex with him, feel lucky instead of crying about him. Try to find a man with a good heart and get married ASAP. Have a baby. The world is lonelier and more poverty-stricken than you know.

90s music is beautiful but it's also a wound, a death knell. We thought anything that was weird was cool and didn't suspect evil was burrowing into our skin like ticks. That's how Satan works.
We thought the future would just keep getting better and better.

yes they did that, they made the world worse and they continue to do so. everything they touched has to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch

Which, if you did, you would find their book, "13th Gen: Abort, Retry, Ignore, Fail?" which describes Gen X, and I quote, "the generation born between 1961 and 1981"

Of course, "generation" is normally used as a sociopolitical phenomenon, and thus, the criteria of "literally everyone born between the years x and y" is almost completely useless..

>t. elder millenial/xillenial
Q:How can you tell if someone is born in 81-82
A: they insist they are gen x 5 times a day, unprompted.
for some reason nobody squirms and cries about 'generation labels' quite like elder millennials. other generations don't seem to give a shit.

Goddam this discussion has been settled x1000. The official cut off year for millennials is 1982. That was the "class of 2000" meme in America, and that's why. Stfu

you're 100% wrong:

Writing for Pew's Trend magazine in 2018, psychologist Jean Twenge observed that the "birth year boundaries of Gen X are debated but settle somewhere around 1965–1980".[1] According to this definition, as of 2025 the oldest members of Generation X are 60 and the youngest are 44.

The Brookings Institution, another U.S. think tank, sets the Gen X period as from 1965 to 1981.[31] The U.S. Federal Reserve Board uses 1965–1980.[32] The U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) uses 1965 to 1980.[33] In their 2002 book When Generations Collide, Lynne Lancaster and David Stillman use 1965 to 1980, while in 2012 authors Jain and Pant also used 1965 to 1980.[34] U.S. news outlets such as The New York Times[35][36] and The Washington Post[37] describe Generation X as people born between 1965 and 1980. Gallup,[38] Bloomberg,[39] Business Insider,[40] and Forbes[41][42] use 1965–1980. Time magazine wrote that Generation X is "roughly defined as anyone born between 1965 and 1980".[43] George Masnick of the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies puts this generation in the time frame of 1965 to 1984 to satisfy the condition that boomers, Xers, and millennials "cover equal 20-year age spans".[44]
