Further reading;
In terms of the mission ahead, there are two realistic bases of operation;
>A) Diego Garcia, about 14-15 Hour Mission time, likely only 1-2 refueling required
>B) Guam, about 35 Hour Mission time, likely requiring 4-6 refuelings
USAF official fact sheet states the B-2 has a payload capacity of 40,000lbs, and the GBU-57 MOP is a 30,000lb bomb, so if they're carrying 2 there would need to be considerations regarding fuel at takeoff, also aerial refuelling requirements are more severe
Two MOPs would require taking off with less than a full fuel load, as evidenced by the HIFIs going for immediate tanking after take-off. A payload 150% of MTOW would hit range significantly, which I think make Diego Garcia more likely a base than Guam.
In other news;
Iran’s Fars news agency has said the Isfahan nuclear facility – one of the country’s biggest – has been targeted in Israel’s latest attacks but there is no leakage of hazardous materials

>>508192340about 07:00 IRST.
they dont need to attack at night time
>>508192775They have relief pilots and if I’m not mistaken beds and bathrooms onboard. I don’t think they even need to land to complete their mission.
>>508192945They don’t but the US generally doesn’t strike during daylight. However with the need for ground confirmation from special forces and real time monitoring of critical infrastructure they may strike during daylight.
>>508193866its all a guessing game right now but i thought Trump wanted to attack before the markets reopen on Monday and also Israel is losing so sooner rather then later is my guess but Trump may give Iran 2weeks.
>>508194130It’s not going to be 2 weeks. They’re not going to leave most of the operational fleet of b2 bombers susceptible to enemy attack for longer than it takes to complete the mission. Either tonight or tomorrow.
>>508193866between FLIR and modern NVGs, there's practically no difference between night and day militarily, at least operationally for teh USAF. But your enemies will be fewer, tired, and won't be able to see you as well as you can see them.
>>508193700if they were going to bomb them without landing they would have flown East not West, lot shorter flight time, don't have to fly over China
>>508194278Modern white phosphor nvg have at best 500m effective range. I don’t know what the military will do but I know they don’t want to keep their b2’s outside the us any longer than they need to.
>>508194337I don’t know about that, it’s all speculation. The fact of the matter is that the pacific has far less air traffic which means they’re much less likely to be spotted by anyone in the air or on the ground.
>>508194274>Either tonight or tomorrow.agreed.
Now the scenarios.
What happens when the bombs kill Russia scientist working in the nuclear sites .
What happens if after the bombs take out the nuclear sites, Iran response with firing nukes at Israel .
What happens if Chinese radar ships pick up the B2s and light it up on Iranians radars?
What happens if the B2s turn around and head for Washington DC and flatten it

I guess it makes sense since wavelengths have a limited supply. But why can OTH radar take up that much space in what's supposed to be US military channels?
>>508203454OTH works not dissimilarly to AM or UHF, you're taking massive radio waves and bouncing them off the magnetosphere. It's gonna foul up everything along those wavelengths as it passes.
As for why can't we stop it, are you asking why russian military bases can exist? Why can't we bomb a radar base? Why they're "allowed" to do it? The fouling is as much a feature as it is a bug, and there's nothign you can about 4th/5th domain of war without using the others, and we aint at war.

>>508208535European times I suppose?

But you have to take into account that the B-2 and their trained crews are highly valuable assets. If attacking non-stop is not an operational necessity, better allow some stopovers at Gua,m and Diego Garcia for rest and maintenance.
I guess russian and chinese satellites are watching the airbases and passing info to Iran, so they will know when they are getting attacked, but can't do shit against it anyway.

>>508226979if they go solo, without americans bombing entire entire way to de dust, Iran will likely bomb Dimona reactor in retaliation.

>>508226979I've heard rumours/boasts that they would send 'a team' in to take it out in person. seems unlikely but then I wouldn't put anything past the IDF special forces desu a ground assault to detonate it from inside isn't entirely implausible. antiair defences around Fordow are p much gone so if Israel had complete air superiority for a few hours, few lads in a chopper could do some damage
Or they could nuke it but I really don't see them using those unless its a truly existential threat to the state, which they /say/ but we all know isn't the case here

>>508228846Likely because they were within the range of Iranian hypersonic missiles and they had plenty of warning from Israel in regards to their plan to strike Iran. That’s why I don’t think B2’s will land in Diega Garcia or even land at all. They will probably refuel aerially in Guam after the the stratotankers have refueled and continue on their way. Also there’s still a question as to whether the b2’s can land with a 30% higher payload. I’m not an engineer, so I don’t know how payload affects the airframe vs fuel, but I know if they had to take off with low fuel, it needs to be drastically lower to land. Your average 747 can take off with full fuel but has to jettison 80% of it to land safely.
>>508229419>hypersonic missilesI swear, every time I hear this I get a rash...
Are you some turdie that gets excited because of ballistic missile speeds?
>>508229579No. But there is no doubt that hypersonic missiles could be launched from Iran, evade air defenses, and impact before the US has a chance to get their fleet in the air. We’ve seen examples of them in video over the past week.
>>508229419>Your average 747 can take off with full fuel but has to jettison 80% of it to land safely.what? this sounds completely nonsensical
>>508229745>hypersonic missiles could be launched
>>508229849nah, that is why they can piss fuel. not an engineer either but i've definitely seen videos of them lightening up before landing
>>508229849landing put more mechanical stress on aircraft frame than taking off..., or sth
>>508229849https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_dumping
Max take off weight is often 200K lbs heavier than maximum structural landing weight. Its not not really they "cant" land heavier, but landing heavy risks a harder landing and risks structural damage to plane
USAF Messages are active. Ugly echo, though.
>>508230369>>508230544>>508230734>"Jettison 80%" is nonsense. Most 747s do not carry fuel anywhere near 80% of capacity just to dump it. Fuel dump needs vary—typically enough to reduce weight by 100,000–200,000 pounds (roughly 15–30% of max fuel load), depending on the specific mission load and fuel level at time of emergency.>747s don't routinely dump fuel. Fuel dumping is rare and done only in emergencies. Normally, fuel is burned off during the flight before landing.

>>508231173I believe so, but yours cuts off early. I recorded mine on 11.175 kHz.
>>508229849Are you retarded? The maximum take off weight of a 747 is 800,000 pounds. The maximum landing weight is 574,000 pounds. The weight of the fuel tanks fully loaded is 400,000 pounds. That means at best they can land with 43.5 percent fuel at maximum weight. Now consider the b2 is already over payload capacity by 20,000 pounds, which is lower in mass and centrally located in the fuselage near the landing gear and only has a fuel capacity of 160000 pounds.
>>508230952>Normally, fuel is burned off during the flight before landingYes, they make calculation before flight. If the trip is going to take 800000 lbs of fuel they fill up 8250000 giving them enough to divert if needed.
But if there is an emergency and they have to land immediately they might be over their max recommended landing weight so they will often dump fuel before landing
>>508230952This is not true. A 747 at MAXIMUM landing weight is 43.5% of max fuel load. Which means they’d have to jettison 56.5% of fuel to land safely but that’s at maximum landing weight. Most 747’s land with 15-20% fuel in reserve. I understand that fuel is burned during the flight, I meant if they took off at full weight and had to emergency land shortly after they would have to jettison a massive percentage of their fuel. This is a retarded argument anyway because nobody knows what the structural limits of a b2 are. I was just trying to make an anecdotal comparison.
>>508230952I think everyone else just assumed that they, yanno, do the math. But you're retarded and think you're telling people something they didn't inherently understand lmao.

>>508232143That’s not even me. He’s clearly pointing out the fact that you know nothing about airplanes and anyone who did would know what I meant. Payload always puts more stress on the airframe and landing gears. The manufacturer suggested maximum payload on the b2 is 40k. Which means it’s 30% overloaded on payload. My entire point is I don’t even know if they can safely land with that payload without doing structural damage to the airframe. Do you understand now?
>>508232494Iran has already used a half a dozen hypersonic missiles that have been filmed. It’s not even remotely in question as to whether or not they have them.

>>508232986There's these handy little things called IDs on each post, anon. You're a confirmed retard.
>>508232989That’s not entirely why. Landing puts significantly more stress on the airframe. It’s like walking on the ground vs jumping from 2 stories. And payload puts considerably more stress on the airframe than evenly distributed fuel. That’s why the maximum payload of pickup trucks are significantly less than the maximum towing capacity.

>>508233619Brother the only point I was trying to make is that we don’t know how 50% increased payload affects b2’s and that they may not be able to land without structurally damaging the airframe. Therefore it’s very likely they aren’t going to land and are on a direct mission to bomb targets before returning. Whatever else you’re arguing about is nonsense and you’re moving goalposts. Nobody here has classified information on the b2. We don’t know. It is speculation, but it’s plausible.

>>508234524Correct. The MOP bunker busters are only rated to a depth of 60m while fordow is estimated to be 90m or deeper under 30,0000psi reinforced concrete and could yaw with advanced bunker shell construction techniques. I sincerely doubt they will use GBU-57’s alone. I think it will start with a dozen or more gbu-57’s and there will be a tactical nuclear explosive detonated after. We probably won’t ever see the strike, and they will claim nuclear contamination from the facility. Or they could just straight up nuke it and use the gbu-57’s on other strategic sites. I don’t think there will be any kind of verifiable footage from the strike so it’ll likely be propaganda that we’re force fed.

>Guam is isolated but as there are still areas of civilian airspace outside the military controlled bits relating to Anderson>There hasn't been (as far as I know) a NOTAM issued like there was in Hawaii. Considering the openness of the tankers at launch and the refuel over HNL, I don't really see why they would introduce ambiguity/secrecy at this point.>160,000 people live on Guam. I think at least someone, esp with the amount of knowledge of the flights already, would report on the takeoffs/landings, or lack of B-2 landings, were that to occurbut overall you may be right, and raise some valid points
>>508239338this is true, but even if they took down cell networks it would only delay the information getting out- mushroom clouds are pretty noticeable, and nuclear explosions at night aren't exactly subtle. from what I've read, you may be right about the capabilities of the GBU-57, especially with the unknown factor of the quality of the concrete protecting Fordow - but I guess that could be softened up with an earlier bombing run. Also, as the MOPs have depth-linked fuses, it would be possible to launch a staggered series of drops with increasing depth to try and get through the expected layers of protection. just thinking off the top of my head now though

For all we know right now, tankers could have taken off from Japan or Indonesia without a transponder to meet them in the middle and continue on. There’s so much we don’t know and most of this is speculation especially since we haven’t seen this level of aerial military activity since before internet flight tracking was widely available.
