I'm artist, basically if i was commission to make something in the classical style i'd have to learn it. there are people that do this, but it's really just boomers now not a great market for it, i have paintings my uncle made framed before he died and they are classical style but it took decades to learn..

as for statues.

Abstraction has been around for centuries, thousands of years, it's not just a Modern thing. Modern not meaning contemporary (something anons do not understand). No anon can judge art via a screen. The pieces mentioned above are multidimensional and large in scale. The lighting and colors are all wrong, who's to say what is and isn't real unless it's up close? I always see dummies on here happy enough to trade pixels, but there's no such thing as digital art or AI art. It doesn't pass and if you were to try and claim such irl you'd be laughed at and mocked. Only mammals can create art. That's how it's always been vs. cheap images. You at least draw and paint when you're young, hopefully. There will always be mark-making and assemblage.

There is many techniques and methodologies you have to learn when attempting realism with lifestyle drawing
proportions, shading, perspective, drawing as a way of seeing and defining forms from a way in an outline can be incredibly difficult if you don't understand concepts and foundations of realism
it takes a lot of time and understanding, not using gimmicks such as being a grid jew

Pre-modern art implied a sense of permanence. The modern world is conceived of as constantly and irreversibly changing. There is nothing to commemorate or remember. There are only distortions of reality presented in abstract and post-modern art. We knock down our monuments and old buildings. We melt our artifacts.

They're good at separate skills.

Muslims excells in geometric patterns.
Arabesque is as beautiful as western art, and I doubt westerners have been able to surpass muslims in geometry.

Mongoloids seems to excell rather in imaginative non realistic idealism.
Everything mongoloids draw seems to be imbued by a moe type of beauty.

The primitive races are better when they depict art as some spiritual experience.

The negroids seems to have rather a deep spiritual conection with the death.
Same with mexicans, which art steems deeply from being a religious experience with their gone relatives.

This is one of my favorite apus. It speaks to the soul, and to the human condition, the task of bearing pain a human must go through. It transcends levels of irony while evoking as well as depicting a genuine and sincere emotion. So crudely depicted, yet the pained look of agony on Apu is as real as it gets.

A fag like Kent Monkman could not attain this level of sincerity.

This and consumers don't know what's good anyways, they just consume whatever is trendy and what they're told to consume. Furthermore, most people have no clue to the work that's involved in creating something visual. That's been lost on the masses due to mass consumption and instant gratification over the decades.
They say anyone can become an artist, but the truth is most can't because they simply don't have the personality type of an artist, and their brains don't work in that capacity. Which is fine, not everyone needs to or should be an artist.

Proofs? A critique is useless without them, if that's what you're aiming for.

The composition is near perfect for both pictures. Obviously colorism is not the strength for apus/pepes, nor is it sought to be in most. That shitty autistic colorism is part of the charm. The colors in the Monkman are actually good especially for acrylic paint. He didn't make the central figure's attire tomato red or anything. The bright blue on the right is the only flaw I find color-wise.

In school I used to just play random shit on my trombone lol and the teacher would always get mad at me when he would randomly test us. I would just copy the movements of my fellow trombone players. I played trombone for 8 years in school and managed to never learn how to read music kek

I see what you mean by the busyness of the picture, but he also provided a serene landscape, sky/water/trees in the distance/background for the eye to retreat to, when exhausted by the busyness, and then come back to the action with renewed vigor. I think the composition works. Now that you pointed it out, those ascending beavers do need to have their hind legs in a different position (swimming like you said)
And I see what you mean about the contrast and saturation of the colors. Acrylic paintings tends to be like that by default. Out of all the colors I only really hate the saturated blue robe on the left.

>his other shit is just slop.
Agreed. The beaver one is actually the only good piece I've seen by him and the only one I like.

Youre right about the values but composition wise he makes the dioganals kind of obvious. It would be better if the flying beavers were smaller or higher up.

Maybe for stone, not my domain, but last time i checked, wood sculpting machines couldn't compete with humans in term of quality of surface.

Basically it was just "drills" not giving a shit about wood grain direction, something a carver really cares for and garanties a smooth surface.

>useless

Art isn’t useless. Same way living around a decrepit, littered and ugly environment is depressing. Art is uplifting, it’s culture, and becomes part of history.
