One advantage for the employer is they don't get as easily demotivated because they don't have that "where will this lead me/how can I get a better deal" longer term thinking thread running in their heads, at all. They will just obey and stay within the lines. This works well for modern corps.
It's all an illusion of productivity, hardly anything actually improves. No innovation, and therefore stagnation, suit obedient box checkers and people who need security, like woman and feminised men. The social aspect is also a big part of this mindset, they need a herd.
