>>508299153Have you missed the last 20? The shia militias in iraq employed $100 explosive EFPs against american convoys that destroyed $1 million MRAPs. Iran supplied them. Iran deterrence is weakened but US involvement drives the shia militias to activate again. The militias and their tactics prevent any long term US army engagement but still allow airstrikes to continue. The situation is still evolving. As for israel, how many more weeks can tel-aviv survive these bombings? 1? 2? Consider that israel is a $500 billion economy with 10 million residents and at least 1 million trying to escape. Couple this with a complete demolition of israeli infrastructure if the war continues and you're left wondering, what exactly is israel winning? The gaza look-a-like contest?
All of the old deterrence is gone, war is already happening and spreading. What can israel even gain from this war? Iran will not fall as they wish, hamas hasn't been defeated, palestinians see gaza as a religious cause now(the 50-100k dead palestinians guaranteed that), and while syria lost assad and hezbollah lost their leadership, what's going to happen going forward? Israel needs US to win the war for them. Hezbollah will recover in time and syria will ask israel to leave mount hermon nicely at first, then forcefully once a new army is formed. The opportunity to strike iran was now, but the pieces of the puzzle immediately started moving after the first strike.
