Gas has a limited shelf life and it is dangerous to keep containers like that in unventilated places.

Gas does, but diesel doesn't. You wouldn't be foolish enough to drive a gas car, would you?

You can add an additive to extend the shelf life. I used 2yr old stuff recently and couldn't detect any difference

Diesel gets gummy in cold weather. It gets cold enough here that even gas cars need engine block heaters to reliably start.

Holy hell anon, that seems a bit excessive.
Even with stabilizers it's only going last maybe about 2... maybe 3 years.
Even if you can use it for that long, you don't really want to use gas that's old and degraded because it can gum up the engine and clog the fuel filter.
If he were to try and use it all within a year he'd need to be using about 3 gallons every day, either that or sell it for a profit.
