The key is that people reproduce their own culture. The successes of civilization that leftists want immigrants to enjoy were built by European Americans, through cultural evolution that took thousands of years to develop. If they want America to continue to exist as a place that is better than the countries the immigrants are fleeing from, that trickle of immigration has to be controlled to such a low level that the culture coming in doesn't impact the American culture. We also have a duty to our children to make sure there are enough resources and space for them to inherit the country as we did and have a voice in it, before we consider letting in any immigrants.

It's also important to point out the motivation of globalist corporations to undercut wages by importing labor faster than the natural birth rate, which leftists are generally receptive to.
