Americans will never overthrow their government no matter how corrupt it is because most Americans are hyper-individualists who could not give a damn about their fellow men. “Fuck you, got mine” is their national ethos. They only care about shit that affects them personally and when they do help their fellow men, it’s only their friends and family members, not society as a whole.

Every single anti-war protest in the last 50 years or so was only a thing because the family members of its protestors were being sent home in body bags. Otherwise they couldn’t give a damn about what their government was doing overseas.

Even the class conflict of the late gilded age was influenced by this hyper-individualism. Even as workers got into gunfights with strikebreakers, they didn’t give a damn about class conflict and their goals were less “we should seize the means of production” and more “fuck you, pay me”. They were only in it for themselves.

Americans are too hyper-individualistic to stage a revolution and any mass movement will fail if what it’s fighting against doesn’t affect to personal day-to-day lives of most Americans.
