This is very different rhetoric compared to all the neocons and Zionists who have been calling for the destruction of the 'head of the snake'.
Trump clearly does not want to do regime change in Iran. But he wants Iran to believe that he would. And clearly he has been able to convince all of /pol/ that he would.
Trump's focus since this issue has risen has always been on preventing Iran from getting nukes. The airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities were a way to force Israel back to the negotiating table. If the Iranian nuclear program has been set back 5 years then there is no justification for continued military action by Israel.
But Trump needs to get both Israel and Iran back to the table. Pretty tall order since Israel wants regime change in Iran and Iran needs to retaliate against these strikes in order to appease their own population. If Trump's plan is going to work he needs to convince Iran that he would be willing to push for regime change, and he needs to convince Israel that he would exit the conflict if Iran decides to enter negotiations.
That is all that this is. You guys are getting all hot and bothered over nothing frankly.
