>>508429248>lol have you noticed they're no longer the front page of the internet, but "the heart of the internet"That makes sense. I'm not sure when I noticed it, I think maybe around 2016 or 2017, maybe earlier. But right around that time reddit stopped being the website to get the newest content. From about 2010-2015 I would see memes and viral videos and other posts on Reddit, and then 2 or 3 days later I'd see people start sharing them on Facebook or other social media. But in the mid/late 2010s that switched. I'd be browsing Facebook and see some meme or interesting video, and then 2 or 3 days later I'd see it on the reddit front page.
>>508429479>Mind boggling how it went from being similar to this place to completely pozzed. It's sad, Reddit used to be good for having focused discussions around specific content and organizing and cataloging that stuff. It was a great site from 2008 until about 2013 or so. Ellen Pao fucked it up and it only got worse from there. The banning of r/jailbait and r/coontown was truly the beginning of the end. Same with r/fatpeoplehate. It limped along for a while but never regained glory. r/The_Donald was cringe but it was funny to see how much they rustled the jimmies of other Redditors.
The best latter day subreddits were r/incels and then r/braincels. Some of the absolute funniest memes and discussions on there. It was like r9k but hilarious instead of depressing. r/incels was banned in 2017 and r/braincels banned in 2019.
Every now and then a based subreddit pops up, but it quickly gets banned. Right now the best one I've found is r/europe_sub
I truly hope reddit either dies or gets bought by Elon or an Elon type billionaire and becomes usable again
