true story: when they hold the Chicago air and water show, on a Saturday and Sunday, they actually run through it on Thursday and Friday before. So when I worked downtown, me and some friends would grab a lunch and go down the to lakefront for a few hours and watch the reheasal, while avoiding the weekend crowds.
Second true story: for a while I lived right by Lincoln Park Zoo. Could watch the airshow from the apartment rooftop about 25 stories up. One time they were practicing the low cover show and a jet flew between my building and the one next to it at about eye level - there was a vacant lot between them.
