Yet beyond some demonstrative strikes on Ukrainian plants mostly following Ukrainian strikes, that hasn’t happened.

Even if we didn't have any interests in the middle east, they would still be a problem. They are actively developing ICBMs, not just nuclear warheads. If they succeeded in developing nuclear ICBMs and launched them at us, they would probably get intercepted prior to their arrival in the US, but as I already said that would still be a nightmare situation for the US and no sane president would be willing to make that gamble.
