>>508552590let's say you have a power hungry vampire with no moral compass, as all politicians are. the power hungry poltician has some sort of a selfish goal or several of them, it could be that one of his friends wants some land for himself but can't obtain it by lawful means, or maybe they just want more money so they try to get foregin aid just to sell the supplies when no one's looking and slip the money in their pocket, or maybe they're just schizophrenic lunatics trying to make human sacrifices to some false idol, doing it all while blaming some outside force would be too easy, wouldn't it? they'd have nothing to lose. it keeps the citizens in a perpetual state of fear, it keeps them in check, it keeps them just productive enough to do their job but nothing else, when their fears are triggered they just wait for the tv to tell them what to think and what to do and just take it all in, with no conscious filtering, with their reasoning skills dialed to zero.
