You have a very good point. Enshrining native property rights could actually be a positive as long as there is also a legal protection for all current citizens. I think any sensible native representative body would welcome the opportunity to legally benefit from land ownership while working with the colonial ancestors to make the most of the land and resources. If the economic benefits of land went to the natives then those benefits are likely to be retained and reinvested in the country. Instead, most benefits are sent offshore and no-one really benefits, neither the natives not the colonial ancestors.
