This is a good movement, but really all they could realistically achieve is making games that rely on continued support more clearly labeled as such. A push in that direction could lead to requiring games to have a downloadable offline mode that gives infinite play, but essentially leaves you running in place in a mouse wheel.

Losing progress and investment sucks, but the nature of the game was apparent. Like imagine how many hundreds of dollars the average Fortnite player will lose if the servers go down for good. There is something to say about this economic model that leaves consumers with less value, nothing physical. Sure, it's access to an experience, like a concert ticket, but what you're truly getting isn't as obvious.

He says, as he posts almost certainly from a computer running Windows that could be remotely killed if Microsoft were feeling particularly nasty.
This from a company who are overwhelmingly heading in the direction of making Windows an online-only service from Windows 10 onwards, 11 even more so, and they are testing out a version that has NO software and is just a dumb terminal for you to connect to Microsofts shitty cloud services to do things.
He says as he almost certainly uses Steam, a platform that has delisted games and will prevent you even playing your games if you don't have an internet connection for a certain period of time.

Having internet doesn’t mean they have to keep running it. You having internet isn't all that's required. So no, that's not clear. In fact, I could see that box, know I have internet, and try to play thinking I have what they said they required. It's not clear, I'm just smart enough to know that's not all that is needed.

Sadly there simply were not enough people on board.
The problem is to some degree that Ross is a poor figurehead and movement leader.
All it takes to get this done is to convince some high profile streamers, YouTubers and other gaming related e-people to push for it.
It doesn't matter how many people are antagonized by this, because what matters is exposure.

In the future everyone will be forced to play AI games produced on the spot anyway. You will either play the few physical legacy copies you bought early before your old console breaks, or play AI slop. Digital games will have their permission stolen because people will stop buying new games, so game publishers will be forced to retract your rights to old pre-ai games. And said AI generators will be all live service where you pay monthly.

lol... says the non gamer. Let me let you in on a secret. STEAM for instance, is sometimes the only way you can buy a game. Steam is a "service provider" THEY own the games, and YOU pay them to allow you the privilege to play THEIR games on YOUR pc. That's their model.

You can't even play these games without the Steam program unless you find some kind of third party hack to allow it. There's a lot of games like this wher eyou literally can't just "buy" the game. You have to be online. You have to use their service. And if you go post nigger nigger nigger in the forums for some reason they can just take the games you thought YOU owned away from you. They've shifted everything into this model.

Hard copies are a thing of the past. Everything new is digital, and you've got to use one of these programs to launch the game.

He made the mistake of fucking with Pirate Software. The most intelligent giga brain man on earth who also worked at Blizzard and is definitely not a pedophile and a furfag.

i would just make my game a boring 5 minute tech demo for $80. Once you purchase it you can download the real game as a free multiplayer DLC. And since you didn't pay for the DLC I can shut it down anytime. Your gay little proposed law has a million easy loopholes.

DLC you paid for are still goods and would fall under this law that you would have to have access to it.

Bro these mods and admins are fucking retarded. This topic isn't Political. The brainrot is real.

it kinda is political because it's about a citizen's initiative in both the EU and the UK that could potentially turn into an actual legislative debate in our Parliaments if enough signatures are gathered. Sadly, the whole thing was sabotaged by that cuck furry retard Thor. Once a Blizzard employee, always a Blizzard employee.

This. Right to repair and ownership rights are political. Especially just regulating how things are labeled and what they're called.
