When I'm in Italy I do like to have lunch in cheap restaurants aimed at workers.
The menu's there are very basic and most of the options are pasta because it's cheap calories for people who do physical work.
But that's OK because I also go to a lot of higher end restaurants just don't want/need fancy food twice a day and even the most basic pasta tastes fine.
