It’s debatable, I certainly don’t relax when outside but I’m not at the level of a tweaking methhead either, I can’t really speak on how much it fucks with your health

WW1 documented cases as Shell shock. And many people came back often described as 'wrong'. Even before then people came back from wars would sometimes be called haunted. By WW2 we understood the condition a little better. Most people did come back fine, but a lot of people didn't. Particularly ones that saw truly horrific things or experienced near death scenarios.

PTSD isn't just major breakdowns, it's things like anxiety and being on edge during scenarios. Most common among veterans is Fireworks. It's your brain being conditioned that you're in a life or death situation even if you're not.

Depending on the severity you will never be normal again. If you have experienced say one traumatic incident possible. I've met some really genuine and well meaning ones that did help me. There was one grifter who seemed more than happy to take Veterans Affairs money and do the bare minimum and he also seemed to have ulterior motives. One of the biggest issues I've noticed is psychology is very feminine oriented. The grifter I mentioned spent months trying to get me to express emotions like a woman and even said my dark humor was counter productive and "toxic" when its one of the #1 ways we deal with bad shit.
