It's all about attrition at this point. Unfortunately for Ukraine I think the goal for Russia is two fold. First reduce NATO weapons, ammo and vehicles to the point of irrelevance, a goal which has largely been achieved. Their second goal is the demographic elimination of Ukraine, not their yet but getting close. I'm of the opinion that Russia's plan for the end of the war is to just apply constant pressure on the entire front until there's nobody left.

My guess is it will largely be a repeat of the start of the war. They'll come down both sides of the Dnipro to Kiev. Essentially it will be a return to big arrow warfare, much like how WW1 turned out. Lots of movement at first, horrific casualties, turned into static warfare, more horrific casualties but then one army breaks and suffers even more horrific casualties as they retreat.

The Sumy offensive already got counter-attacked so it's clear they don't have the capacity for larger offensives.
The main reason for that I can't say, but my suspicion is lack of equipment. Since they're doing concentrated fire, they probably don't have enough cannons for decent firepower on a larger front, even if they have the shells.
