Pic rel is my great-grandfather, who was brought to the US from Finland as an infant. He was brought up in the Midwest, eventually got his own farm, and raised four kids on his own after his wife left him and abandoned her children.

The man grew his own crops, raised his own livestock, traded with local Amish families, took his kids to school and church. He's not the only silent gen/greatest gen I know of that was like that either, so wtf happened to people (men AND women)? It's like the code of honor was broken and no one feels a sense of duty anymore.

Suburbinization following world war 2 meant that masculine qualities like strength and violence were deincentivized in favor of herbivore office drone culture. That is how you ended up with parents that teach their children to "voice their feelings" when in danger and depend on authorities for protection instead of simply injuring anyone that tries to humiliate them.
