Don't work dead end jobs. I worked in the back of a kitchen for 5 years, I thought I was the fucking shit for making decent money compared to my peers at the time (good tips!). But my friends were grinding low paying jobs that went somewhere. Now half of them approach 6 figures, and I have 5 worthless years on my resume.

You need to think much harder on your next few jobs than you think you'll need to. You won't be a fresh faced kid for very long (read: able and willing to be trained correctly). 20's go by fast and you feel like you are teen in some ways, a young adult so to speak. early 30s you feel like you are still in your 20s on your good days. by mid 30s your metabolism has changed and you feel different, you cant trick yourself into thinking you are young anymore. Find a job that doesn't feel like work to you. One where time passes quick as long as you're keeping busy. Those have been the best jobs in my experience. Benefits, good coworkers, a boss that isn't a flaming idiot; all these things are nice, but the best job is one that just lets you get into that flow state and before you know it, it's time to clock out. Might take a few before you find one like that, but make sure to figure out what about the job that you like so you can look for jobs in the future that are similar. Eventually, with a little luck, you'll find the perfect or close to perfect job for you. I found a great spot at a sign printing shop. The work isn't too hard, the money is great, the service is always in demand, even during a rush things never feel too busy, the boss is a decent guy, there's no HR or office busy-bodies, and while it isn't glamorous work I can (within reason) take as many unpaid leave days as I want, and I get a moderate raise every year.

1. 1% better everyday is real, work on something

2. Don't waste time planning to do something, just go do it. It doesn't matter how many books you read on business, just go right into it and try to make something.

3. Always have a side project of some sort, people who are worth your time are people who build things, it doesn't matter if it's a music project, art, building a log cabin, whatever. Do something that's worth talking about, it also makes it easier to strike up conversations, and other people who are interesting always have things around them on their sides.

3. Nothing is off limits, try everything. Try enjoying a new thing other people are enjoying, don't send out just 1 e-mail to get a client, send out 1,000 and see if you can get anything to roll.

4. Build your own brand out online. It doesn't matter if you have 10 followers, or 100,000 followers, you have a brand that people will pay attention to if you build it out, and it can lead to endless possibilities in many different industries.

5. The people you surround yourself with are the values you represent. If you are around unambitious idiots who all work at retail stores, chances are, you are an unambitious idiot that works at a retail store. If you surround yourself with questionable liars and womanizers, you probably are that. Your values are a reflection of the people around you.

6. Life's short and it might be the only one you have. You're 20 today. I was 19 10 years ago. The number only goes up, not down.

7. Don't sacrifice yourself. You need to put yourself above everyone else, you can't financially support someone else if you can't support yourself. You can't have self-esteem if you don't any achievement worth looking forward to. Work hard to earn those achievements and that self-esteem, it'll make all the difference in the world.

Im 30yo, just found out i have inattentive adhd after struggling with other issues for years. Nobody who tried to help me ever figured out it might be adhd that causes those other issues. Fucking sucks and I wish I knew 10/15 years ago because it would have helped a lot.
