Cold war propaganda and ideological differences, really. Russians are largely authoritarian, it's in their blood, but Western people tend to be very liberal or democratic. I would say most of my friends have a dislike of Russia, but they never wronged me personally and a pretty, wholesome and sexy Russian girl with that accent would melt my heart.

So yeah, Westerners buy into propaganda fuck easier than they want to admit.
