I'm not saying they're completely fake, but there's something very sus about the sites we allegedly nuked in Japan. Where is the fallout and the godzillions of years it takes for the radiation to subside?

They were an airburst. Airbursts result in relatively small amounts of fallout, which on that scale would only take a week or so to dissipate anyway. Even a full scale exchange would seeing fallout taper off after a couple of months, ignoring the damage to the ozone layer and residual particles.
