What's YouTube's end goal? Today they blocked the ability to use the website if you don't allow cookies.

Simply don't have account, that's all you need. I use Brave and see no ads. But since yesterday they forced the playlist for some reason, so it goes to the next video though it doesn't play it automatically.

tldr; the playlist is being forced since yesterday everything else still works like before, no ads, no problems

well, i'm not talking about ads. I'm not logged in, either. (for subscriptions, I just use an RSS reader)

What i'm talking about is this new fucking trend with websites where they refuse to load the very first visit after they try and fail to set a cookie. Now yt decides it won't let me search for anything or even see a channel's video listings if I don't allow a single cookie.

again, i'm talking FIRST party cookies, not THIRD.

>why are you blocking cookies instead of just using permanent private mode ?

because i have other shit to do not on private mode, and because the history stack is actually useful. what else am i going to do with all this RAM than have 87 tabs open for 14 months?

>are you telling me you use cookies on some sites and block them on others ? that's embarassing
why is it embarrassing to be cognizant of which companies are doing the shadiest of shit and which are harmless? imagine if everyone turned off cookies tomorrow, and used local software like a browser extension or userscripts (cough 4chanx) to manage site prefs, and rss readers to manage subscriptions. youtube would have a panic attack at the amount of sheckles lost, and that's before adding ad blockers to the equation.

the only reason to allow cookies is to login or to set preferences. literally everything else is a scam and i don't know why browsers don't come with a "cookies whitelist" by default... no wait, i do. because modern browser makers are corrupt.

if it tells you anything, i compile firefox from source after making modifications

Based Brave Chad
I also use Brave. I have tried many browsers over the years but when I switched to Brave my internet experience changed in ways I couldn't have imagined. This browser actually gets the job done. Unlike other browsers, Brave also offers the sense of community, belonging and above all, pride. We did something that not many people can do - we downloaded a browser from internet for free and now we are in the elite club. I recommended this browser to all my friends and family and offered to download it for them if they don't know how to

becaue you don't need it. Alphabet/Google/Youtube wants to use your disk to store information and trackers about you and what you watch so it can feed you bullshit recommendations in the algorithm.

The only reason would be if you want to upload a video (i.e. login), or comment (i.e. login). You can manage preferences (like dark mode or autoplay or anything) using a tampermonkey userscript or an private, local extension like Youtube Enhancer, or just use the defaults.

I access via Tor without a login, and YT not like
> blocking videos 'login to prove you're not a bot'
> videos stopping half way through
> left on ads to be a good citizen, still getting the Palestinian treatment
> Playing constant cat and mouse game
So I stopped using YT in the browser and wrote a wrapper for yt-dlp and barely visit the site at all.
Here's a good set of commandline options if you're new to yt-dlp:
> yt-dlp --quiet --progress -f 'bv[height<=360]+ba]' -o "%(channel)s_%(title)s_[%(id)s].%(ext)s" <URL or video ID>
If you want better resolution, replace 360 with 480 720 or 1080.
If you're targeting another video platform, replace the -f with a -F and no argument to get the available formats, and replace the -f argument with one that looks suitable.

Get ublock

AND A FINAL REASON TO BLOCK COOKIES:

Cookies are how Youtube detects and manages the __fact__ that you use an adblocker. They can't do anything to a read-only client. They're not gonna store some flag on some server somehwere that they have to maintain. No, they'd much rather YOU store the information on YOUR computer, so your own PC rats you out.

Letting youtube access any other cookies (which might have a CORS exception built into the browser because Google strong-armed them) potentially lets them cross reference your google ads or gstatic or google fonts cookies to nail your gmail account if you unfortunately still have one.

OH MY FUCKING GOD.

I'M NOT FUCKING TALKING ABOUT AD BLOCKING

I HAVE UBLOCK ORIGIN YOU RETARDED LEAF. BUT WE'RE NOT DISCUSSING UBLOCK ORIGIN OR ANY OTHER AD BLOCKER.

WE'RE DISCUSSING FIRST PARTY COOKIE BLOCKING

>Invidious
>Invidious instance installed Anubis infront of Invidious. Anubis requires cookies.

It would have been a good idea, but just like i want to block cookies for youtube, i'd want to block cookies for random instances of Invidious running on some random server in wherever.
Invidious instances are also demanding cookies because of bots.
>This is why we can't have anything good.

Yeah, I would feel bad using someone's bandwidth to watch vids.
I will prob have to use invidious to search (and rss to sub and watch)

Only a matter of time until they remove RSS (I honestly think they forgot it's there, so I don't mention it in more public spaces)

You don't even know that what you are defining as "works" is not what I define as "works". YOU'RE STILL ALLOWING FIRST PARTY COOKIES TO GET IT TO WORK. i gave you 3-step instructions to change the battery in your smoke detector (test what I'm talking about) and you replied like a nigger.

I came back to give you an RSS hint.
There are RSS feeds hidden in the page source of a youtube channel's home page. When you subscribe to those straight from youtube, the rss feed includes an <embedded> youtube player.

I noticed invidious has a big "RSS" button, and i tried it, and the feed looks the same, and includes a slightly smaller description paragraph, but the problem is the invidious RSS feed doesn't appear to embed the video. So that's probably why you use
>mkv --ytdl to play videos

I just pull the rss url from the channel itself

Nobody cares about that shit. Count yourself lucky you can still access the internet and their venues without digital ID, won't be long anyway. Be more grateful you stupid vermin instead of bitching like an impotent goy.
