>>508672199 (OP)It's funny how people care so much about Japan and what Japan thinks when they don't even care about us. It's almost like we never thought ourselves the question of how we would feel if immigrants flooded our country en masse and tried to erase our cultural identity.
Oh but wait, nevermind that since that goes without saying for America or Western Europe since we allow ourselves to be flooded or 'invaded' and have crime be upticked by petty thievery, carjacking, and gun violence.
No, but do you want to know the real reason Japan is like that in the first place - "xenophobic" - as they say? It's very simple: geography.
Japan is a Small country. They're not going to have the space to accommodate everybody. And even if they did, jobs and housing would be scarce. We think about this every day in America because of how it affects us. But never about Japan because it's like we treat them as a substitute.
People's reasonings might also not be as well intentioned since they probably learned about the language from some anime or Manga or something else without really giving the country's insight and perspective without some forethought. But this isn't why Japan is wary and skeptical of foreigners.
Granted, no one can argue about racism or tradition. But Japan is essentially an old dog with a stick up its ass caring about outdated traditions and morals that were only, say, relevant about 30 years ago. I'm not saying for them to be open-minded but it's not like a leopard can change its spots. If they don't like you, then leave. There's plenty of other countries to waste your time in.
Bottom line is give Japan a break. Maybe 20 years they'll change their mind about this when enough of their elderly die and there's no one left today to care what was relevant in WWII and how they felt about 'gaijins.' But for now, just stop with your infatuation that you felt for them just because you watched anime once. The Sakura con 2000s commercial exists for a reason.
