HOWEVER Win11 is not your only option, you could use modern safe linux which have been released in 2023 or later (older than that is not safe)

Win 11 was released on Christmas 2021 but for last 4 years people have still been using windows 10.

Microsoft recommended updating to Win 11 already in late 2023. But now it will be kinda mandatory in October 2025.

Support for Windows 10 ends. No new features have been added it ever since 2022.

The real problem is end of security updates which will end on October 2025.

Windows 12 will come maybe in January 2027. You probably shouldnt wait that long so using Windows 11 in the mean time is the proper otpion.

If you transmit 33 USD to Microsofts bank account they will grant you security updates to Win11 for entire year 2026 though.

But updating to Win11 will be free for Win10 owners.

I have win11 on my work computer and win10 on my home desktop. Win11 is unusable bloatware even for MS standards. For some fucking reason they decided to butcher the right-click options menu. You can no longer simply cut, paste, rename or delete something in this menu, they’ve converted all of these functions into borderline abstract clip art symbols in an attempt to accommodate actual illiterates from the third world. Someone at MS actually thinks you can or should be able to use a computer without knowing how to read. Fucking braindead. It’s also slow as all hell despite having a better CPU than my win10 machine. I will never “upgrade” no matter the security risks. If they wanted me to use it they should have made a better OS.

It's not really on WINE, it's the result of a fundamentally insane design in Windows that Linux doesn't support. Linux doesn't allow the user to run anything at the kernel level, whereas Windows does. I upgraded to Win11 for the sole reason of better HDR handling when I got an OLED monitor and went the extra mile to debloat everything, remove the new context menu, and install OpenShell to make the taskbar NOT be riddled with ads and be as intuitive as possible (it also looks and feels like Win7). I also disabled TPM 2.0 before installing. Made it feel just as a debloated Win 10 if not more so, since most stuff is being updated for Win11 specifically these days. The tradeoff is that I now have better CPU utilization and HDR, which makes the move worth it honestly.

Don't switch to 11, they have mandatory feature "TPM usage". This means you have to buy a new motherboard with TPM if you don't have it, and you can't put your SSD into other PC, it will not work. Also last time I tried 11, there was no option for local user, you had to actually register Microsoft account in the internet. With 11 one world government will monitor you even more (sounds absurd if we talk about windows in general).

You could just dual boot, if I really need it for a game I can just switch over but the majority of my general computing is in linux and its just more convenient. Windows seem so clunky in comparison. For example I want to learn C programming, in Linux just go to the software manager and type c compiler and click install, all done in seconds. In windows its fucking around with finding the right website and avoiding the scam ones and then trying to find the right link and thinking about where to put it and whatever. Sure once is no big deal but if you try a lot of programs Linux is so much quicker. In the meantime Linux will get updates so maybe what you want will happen one day.
