A Constitutional Republic, however, is a government dictated by the framework of the Constitution. Where a Democracy is governed by mob rule, the Constitutional Republic of the United States is an institution that prioritizes individual liberties above mass politics.
Representation is a part of the government, but the significance of the US Republic are the rigid inalienable rights that cannot be taken away (unless you're a prisoner), even if it goes against the interests of the majority rule. The Founding Fathers designed the government in such a way to enforce pluralism and protect minority groups.
Of course that's being eroded right now, because our own politicians have effortlessly dismantling the safeguards designed specifically to prevent the oligarchic takeover, in the name of 'Democracy,' but I don't believe the Founding Fathers understood how evil and massive megacorporations can be. Then again, they're also Freemasons, so everything happening right now might be all according to plan.
