How many black people in America ACTUALLY have slave heritage? Every black person I know claims their great-great grandfather or something was a slave, and I know a lot of black people because I live in NYC

Nearly 100%

Blacks who came here from Africa or anywhere else are a very small % and if they mixed with any American black their kids then have slave ancestry too.

Around 90% have an ancestor that was a slave. A more interesting statistic is how few white people owned slaves.

Unless theyre an immigrant there is a like a 90 plus percent chance they had a slave ancestor
