I want people to understand and realize how bad weed can potentially be to people, but it's really hard to bring this subject up because now days most people think weed is equal to alcohol, or that is just an innocuous drug.

Weed is highly related to the development of mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, psychosis, paranoia, panic attacks and more mental illnesses. People who are prone to develop a condition don't have a clue, they don't know until it happens to them and by that time it's too late and they have ruined their life, and people told them weed was safe.

Weed can ruin lives, I know it firsthand, I got panic attacks from weed when I was younger, but then I got healthier, my gf got a psychotic episode when she was younger too, a friend of mine got fucking psychotic and had to be hospitalized because of a bad weed trip. I'm trying to raise awareness as much as possible but it's too hard to go against the mainstream narrative that weed is innocuous, not only is not safe, but is not comparable to alcohol.

Alcohol is a bad drug as well, it can ruin lives and the long term effects are bad, but in order to get the negatives of alcohol you need to abuse the substance daily for long periods, weed is not like that. Weed can trigger an underlying mental illnesses just because of pure cosmic bad luck, it's a roulette. It happened to me, it happened to friends, it can happen to anyone. A glass of alcohol is not going to ruin your life, a single joint of weed can absolutely trigger an underlying mental condition.

I was a casual user, very rare I would do weed yet I was fine. Some of my friends had done acid and didn't get triggered anything much until later.

I smoke daily now but have done enough self work to understand when having a "bad time", that thoughts are only that: thoughts. Sometimes existential crisis or negative memories or thinking how one day me & my loved ones will die, yet the important work is on redirecting neg thoughts to more positive ones, and at the very least breath work and mindfulness. Also, discerning paranoia & hypervigilance from actual threat. Yes, there is predisposition to anxiety & depression at play here, and I would advise people with predisposition to schizophrenia from using weed. Modern strains can put you on your ass: less is always more. Avoid waking & baking. It is also a bad idea to go out partying in places you aren't familiar with the people and places, only for the tactical disadvantage of your senses not being clear (other drugs & alcohol apply here too).

I do think there's also a spiritual element at play with weed and you can attract bad entities if you are not careful but that's another story.

Be responsible & accountable with it. If youre an asshole while high you are likely an asshole when not high. Mitigate risk by not getting high in the company of assholes or shitty situations.

Casual weed use can trigger underlying mental illnesses on people who are prone to it, in those cases there's no substance abuse necessary, just cosmic bad luck. These are the most vulnerable group. There are people who still get problems with weed after abusing the substance (daily drug use etc)

Mental problems are not only underlying conditions, can also be developed by brain altering substances, if you don't believe this is true, then I suggest you take a high dose of acid or mushrooms and see how your brain turns out.

I don't think weed is great by any stretch for you generally, but the things I had wrong with me mentally already existed and things like childhood trauma, being raised by a neglectful mentally ill mother etc was FAR more damaging to me than smoking the bong.

When I've been stoned is literally the only time in my life where I felt like everything was ok. I cannot get that feeling sober, and never have once in my life without drugs or alcohol.

I don't have psychosis, I had panic attack at that time (not anymore). However, what you're saying is simply uncheckable and against any kind of studies against THC. I've had a friend who was normal and developed epilepsy through it.

Some people are more tolerant to higher THC doses than others, some people are more vulnerable, others just have cosmic bad luck. Point being, THC is an extremely unpredictable drug (therefore the roulette analogy), which makes it incomparable with alcohol.

Marijuana legalisation debate got bogged down in the discussion of medical/physical consequences. The onus should have been on how pot promotes vice. The moral consequences of being high all the time aren't as easy to quantify, so you can't wow people with charts and pseudoscience. As has been posted before, smoking weed heavily somehow stops your ability to dream when you sleep. If I smoke everyday it takes 2 weeks before I start having dreams again, I'm convinced that this is not good.

With that being said, I’ve used edibles once a week or so and I can see your point in causing schizophrenia and panic attacks. But I’m going to say this probably will only affect people who have a brain on their head and really think deeply about things. If you’re an 80 IQ black and your entire existence is trying to get laid and gang shit, you’ll have a good chill experience. If you’re constantly thinking about the universe and what we are as humans, weed will amplify your thoughts and give big insights into such. What your brain does is limit your ego to a few things that are dear to you. Perhaps your friends, your parents, and so fourth. You’ll feel their anguish when they hurt, and that’s all. But for most people, the pain and feelings of others does not matter in the slightest. Their brains are literally blocking off any identification to these other beings, so that you are not burdened with their stressors and painful. If they died, you would feel nothing because the way your brain is protecting you from reality. But if you do weed, you feel their pain and sorrow regardless.
