This is a great point. A film camera (cheap disposable) might be best, Polaroid too although those are noisy. You'd have to develop yourself if you went this route. A non-wifi dslr or mirrorless could work if you're tactful enough to LARP as a photographer because at least itd be hard storage with no connective hardware. Still sketch if you get caught, but thats always a risk if you're out there noooticing.
I think the easiest way, potentially, would be to LARP as a streamer. Or at least have that be the excuse for any equipment you might have. Either way, people frequently talk about ugly/average men being invisible so thats a usable strategy. Telling kids to take pictures of weird stuff is also great because theyre wonderful at derping their way out of whatever. Obviously specify NO danger for the pics but kids live in a different world and see things we dont that could end up useful. You could make it a game, if you've got nieces/nephews.
I dont know that current image analysis with AI could get a picture of a real-time event off your phone before you scurry home to airgap the file. Having two phones and taking a picture of the 1st picture with the second phone could mitigate this too.
