could be that, old growth forests are worth big money. also there is a metaphyisical aspect to them. i read an article about the destruction of the forests of the middle east during the bronze age and how the kings of those early empires destroyed trees what would have rivaled redwoods in size and enormity because they were spiritual anchors and allowed people to connect to higher powers or something, and that by cutting them down the kings were attempting two things;
1. to force all spiritual connections to the higher powers to flow through them so they essentially position themselves as the highest of a new priestly class (think kings are ordained by god) so if the plebs want to commune with god for instance and recieve premonitions about good and bad, right and wrong, or just to see the way forward, they are essentially forced to consult via the king and his new priestly class.
2. they show their strength and control over metaphysical matters. I.e they are strong leaders because they can go toe-to-toe with god and come out ontop.
i wouldnt put it past the jews to pull some babylonian bullshit like this and try to cut down all the forests and replace them with wind turbines - like they're doing in sweden - and then try to gaslight everyone into believing that this monstrosities are the 'new forest' and the turbines are actually trees or something. "we dont need trees, the turbines produce oxygen now".
