Can you believe in a higher power, without going religious?
Ive had some weird events where I was in a bad place and something came upon me like a single ray of light through the clouds.
Should we give this any weight about there being some higher Being, instead of just happenstance?

I would recommend you to give a bit of weight to this statement since there is a higher being. The next question for you is do you need structure and religious practices to believe in a higher form of life which is able to create humanity, and if not, should it be enough to believe that said higher being exists and try to understand it's will?
