Why were people easily manipulated into white guilt?
I understand feeling bad for things people related to you did centuries ago, but bootlicking minorities and giving them your possessions isn't gonna undo that.
Hell, europeans and white americans are the ones who follow such mindset for past events yet current israelis constantly commit racism and hatred towards browns and they don't feel guilty about it.

This kind of thing took decades of build up, planned long before any of us or our parents were even alive.

Oh my no, it's been around a lot longer than that. White guilt about the Native Americans has been around since the 80s. But even before that, in the 60s when boomers tried to remake society during the civil rights era the nigger bootlicking began in earnest. This is not a new thing, and certainly not something that's only a decade old.
