Nothing prevents the poor from killing the rich and in fact rich people get killed at higher rates than poor people. The higher up they are, the more they are killed. Simply because they have too many enemies and bodyguards cant really stop bullets.

Again, what rich people do to protect themselves is recruit the slightly less poor (formerly known as middle class) to suppress or in some cases actively exterminate those who are even poorer than themselves. Think elected officials, police officers and most other authority figures.
In more hardcore scenarios, when the middle class is well and truly gone, the rich have historically maintained control by dividing the poor in half and having one side massacre the other. That is where we are headed btw, since history always repeats itself

The top would be presidents. Consider how 4 US presidents have been killed, out of 46 or so. Its like an 8% risk of being killed, thats 40 times higher than what random mexicans suffer.
Cartelistas also are not poor, they get rich from selling drugs and have gold plated guns, then they get killed with chainsaws
