>>508897526To add to this - why do you think the big porn sites 'oppose it' by saying they're blocking all the users ahead of being told to?
Because it's performative. They're cowards who want all yer data or none of it.
It is also worth noting that there are such people who have a blackmail fetish out there - including people on the receving end of it, sometimes, if they are lunatic enough - and the sites contain lots of problematic content including hacked webcam footage as it is. Why the hell should we give them the ability to take scans of our faces, which involves accessing the webcams?
Why should this be allowed on social media too? My kid of 17 being required to take a photo of his face to log into Discord randomly one day, holding his ID, so the porn history he's previously acquired browsing more lawless sites that don't do ID check can be sold to bigger sites that are barely more ethical, so it's all there attached to an IP address with a suspected name, and when he logs into Discord with his ID, that gets attached to his name giving them a ton of dirt?
Oh, and more focussed ability to target him with warped degen shit, albeit delayed til 18, defeating the purpose of the law?
If you care about your kids' safety online, you DON'T want sites taking copies of their ID and a potential database of their wank habits being developed! It's bad enough now even though it's mostly guesswork, which they're good at!

>>508897839We all need to stop fixating on DA JOOS if we want to get a level head on this problem and do something about it.
