Redpill me on alcoholism and it's political implications.
>"Broo! It's just 12 beers a night bro - I need it to sleep it's not like I'm doing whiskey or heroin! I only do it 5 days a week broooooo!"
What the fuck do they think they're doing? How do they convince themselves they're not fucking up their lives and their health?

Bitch ass drinks 6 litres of alcohol in 4 hours to get drunk
Real alcoholics skip the factory piss humiliation cans and drink a bottle of vodka/hard liquor in 10 minutes

Ex-alcoholic here.
I'm actually (and was) pretty happy in life.
It just made me nostalgic when I drank with buddies in my teenage years.
I tried to relive that feeling by getting smashed every evening in my basement.

Best decision I ever made was quitting drinking.
Okay, I didn't quit 100%. I drink sometimes on special occasions and can throw them back. Or on vacation. But I also go months at a time between drinking. It's not part of my everyday life.
I'm in my 40s. I think I look like I'm in my 30s, but I've met people who think I'm still in my 20s. Keeping weight off is easy. I can think more clearly. Perform better physically.
Politically, alcohol becomes a means to drown out cognitive dissonance, of which there is a ton going around on all sides of the aisle at the moment. It gives you cover to remain dishonest about certain aspects of your political ideology, because it's always easier to just drink and think about the good instead of work out the contradictions and inconsistencies.
Alcohol is great but only when it doesn't create parasites on the system.

Hot take:
Drinking isn't as bad as people whine about because not everyone drinks a bottle of whiskey everyday.
If you can't control your drinking, it's not my problem
