The Greeks and the Samurai believed that there were benefits to pairing men and boys together in a relationship that was both sexual and pedagogical. Plutarch even says that this was the basis of the Sacred Band of Thebes, that fighting alongside their lovers made them better fighters.

A lot of the modern social problems of young men would be solved if they had a close male mentor figure growing up, and pederasty might be the best way to achieve that. It isn't the same as the sick perversion of adult-faggotry, it actually serves a social function. There must be at least some benefit if so many societies engaged in the practice.
