>>508990820Larry Silverstein’s phrase "pull it" in reference to World Trade Center 7 (WTC7) has been widely discussed and misinterpreted, especially in conspiracy theory circles. In a 2002 PBS documentary titled America Rebuilds, Silverstein said:
> "I remember getting a call from the fire department commander telling me that they were not sure they were going to be able to contain the fire. And I said, 'You know, we've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.' And they made that decision to pull and then we watched the building collapse."The phrase "pull it" has been interpreted in two main ways:
1. Firefighting context (official interpretation):
According to Silverstein and his spokespeople, "pull it" meant to pull the firefighting efforts i.e., withdraw firefighters from the building due to danger.
At the time, WTC7 had been burning for hours, was severely damaged by debris from the Twin Towers, and there were fears it would collapse (which it did later that day).
2. Controlled demolition interpretation (conspiracy theory):
Some interpret "pull it" as slang for demolishing a building, used in the demolition industry (e.g., “pulling” a building down).
Conspiracy theorists argue that this was an admission that WTC7 was intentionally demolished, and they question how a building could be rigged for demolition so quickly.
However, experts in demolition say that controlled demolitions take weeks or months of preparation, and there’s no evidence WTC7 was prepped in such a way.
If WTC7 had been brought down by explosives as part of a secret demolition plot, and Silverstein was involved, it would be incredibly reckless and irrational for him to say anything remotely incriminating on a publicly broadcast documentary.
