Why do 'some' white people say and do racist things but then pretend to not be racist and pretend to not be motivated by racism? Is it cognitive dissonance? Is it some kind of psychological power game? Or are you being Ironic? Or do you genuinely believe you're not racist?
I think that it's because you know that if your motives get revealed you wont be taken as seriously, so you have to pretend that you're motivated by more legitimate reasons. This allows you to piggy back on a more rational argument for oppressing and excluding minorities from access to opportunities. That's my theory but I could be wrong. Genuinely curious.
