They're more neoliberal than any other country, even WEF promotes them as a model society and neoliberalism is their brand. I can't see how an export focused 'developing' economy reliant on foreign markets with food and energy dependencies could be considered communist. They should be in coal mines, working in fields, and praising glorious leader Xi. Instead they're extremely market focused and let private companies do whatever they like. They nominally pretend to be communist by having a comically large picture of Karl Marx in their audience hall, but I can't find anything in Marx's writings that says that the goal of production is to suit the needs of the global market.

Not to mention that Xi will likely get replaced in a year or two due to not being neoliberal enough.

Except for everything bigger than small companies being forced to have Party representatives among them at all time to ensure that their goals align with those of the Party.

The private companies DON’T do what ever they like. In the business world, state owned companies go through quick success because of government backing and government sanctioned loans to said businesses while private businesses have to jump through a dozen hoops and eventually bow to state owned enterprises anyways.

State steals from private, undercuts private, hype investor talking point. Time and again. Like parasites.

Chinese are natural merchants, they are like the fish in water if we speak of commerce. They have been doing commerce for millennias.

What most Westerners mean by "communism" is a Russian-style planned system, which doesn't work because Russians have no idea what economy is.

Russian communism is based on Mongolian horde economy: take away and divide, rinse and repeat. That's why even now capitalist Russia can only plunder its neighbors, but sucks at the market economy.

Kind of like how SpaceX is propped up by government contracts despite being a private company? By this rationale the US is socialist, Chinese small companies have plenty of autonomy. I have no idea why people use them as a model for socialism when they don't even have functional labor unions, it's clearly not the communist hell people made it out to be, I'd even say it's more capitalist than the US.

Depends on the size, but if your goal is profit margins and you want state printed fiat, then by extension you're dependent on markets that the state creates. I agree for what it's worth because the private sector is more competent than state in nearly everything they touch. Although more ethically questionable and less accountable in general.

>Depends on the size, but if your goal is profit margins and you want state printed fiat, then by extension you're dependent on markets that the state creates

The funny part about that is that the state really doesn’t give you too many choices anyways. On the bright side for billionaire “entrepreneurs” (profit sharks) they can just take the government grants for their bullshit “productive industries” and rake in billions of government money for free while decent private businesses get denied like second class business people lmao. Then comes the surprise of embezzlement charges on CEO’s… like Evergrande and many others.

They unironically kill people who get too greedy and nationalize any business that threatens the government or tries to hold it hostage.

In America it's a race to the bottom to curry favor of the capitalist and we all live like shit and act like we have a gun to our head and over there profit is your reward but if you are detrimental to society you die.

We reward anyone detrimental.
