Up until now, Finland has paid a bit of rent money for college/university students in Finland

Usually it is capped at 330 euro (its impossible to find cheaper rent than around 360 eur so 330 eur doesnt cut all the cost)
Most often and especially in Helsinki rent is 500 euro minimum

But now the government will pay only up to 250 eur and in addition stops paying alltogether at summers (June-August)

Why does it matter? Becouse unlike the student, unemployed NEET keeps getting his "housing benefit" of roughly 330 euros, 12 months a year.

Eurobro, you don't want to know what we pay for rent in the states. In Charlottesville, a small city with a good University, a 1 bedroom apartment walkable to the university runs around $1400.

For $1200 you can get a private bedroom and bathroom, but a shared kitchen and living room shared with 3 other people.

30 minute drive out of two in a much smaller city called Waynesboro that same $1400 will get you a second bedroom and maybe an office.

Shared student apartments are often free. You can get your own studio with kitchen and bathroom (20-30m2) for 400-1000€/month in helsinki depending on location and age of the apartment. 70-80s apartments are the cheapest

The problem is that the entire system of social housing/benefits is screwed up and does t make any sense. A student house takes you 5 years waiting time, guess how long most studies last. Social housing for families depends on various priorities ie how brown your skin is. Old people houses are not being build/converted so old people who are alone usually end up with newish build houses wich are more accessible but also way bigger than they need, which should be going to small families (married or 1 child). I know people from Rotterdam who were temporarily homeless who got a house in the best neighborhood in Amsterdam big enough for a family, just because luck. I was born and raised there and on the list for 17 years and I can't find a house. It really is too retarded of a system to be kept like this, the only ones who really benefits are the brown niggers

No not really, you’ll get a flat/apartment for €450-€585 in europe.
And if it’s a little more expensive than that then they just have to make the rent up out of their own pocket. But I doubt that they needed to before the changes it’s quite a generous payment.
Though in cities or in desirable developments rent can run up to very high figures.

Rent in my area starts at $1600 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment. My aunt lives in one with 4 other people and they have a mattress in the "living room." I just spent $200 for the equivalent of two and a half weeks of groceries. My morning breakfast sandwich and coffee cost me $20. I have to pay $300 tomorrow for my phone bill + car insurance.
