The value of a house is in Pints of beer
>In 1970, the average price of a pint was 21c and with an average house price of €6,700 the equivalent price of a house was 31,900 pints. For 2023, the average price of a pint is put at €5.48 and our estimated average house price of €370,000 puts 2023 house prices as equivalent to 67,500 pints of stout.

There's the scam of inflation, a house should only be about €170,000 so houses for €370,000 is a fucking rip off.

1970 was not too far off of Ireland's population low. There were tons of excess homes. Here in the US, we were importing pubs from Ireland like crazy because they were nearly free for anyone willing to take them apart and ship them across the Atlantic.
Then immigration happened, the population caught up with the housing supply and then exceeded it. The beer supply however was easier to keep up with the population growth, especially since many of the "New Irish" don't drink alcohol.

It's more effective to put the average price of a house and convert it to ounces of gold.
