Progressives might support UBI as a way to reduce poverty, close income gaps, and provide a financial safety net in an increasingly automated economy. Theyโd argue it's a proactive way for government to uplift people and promote equity.
Libertarians, on the other hand, are often wary of UBI โ not necessarily because they oppose the idea of individuals receiving support, but because they oppose expanding government power and compulsory taxation to fund such programs. Many prefer private charity or market-driven solutions to help those in need.
This disagreement boils down to a core difference: progressives tend to view government as a tool to promote social justice, while libertarians emphasize personal freedom and minimal state involvement.
I dont think the general public can be educated in politics all at once because ive seen this mistake made for at least 20 years now, my generation is genuinely daft at times
