I stopped as soon as they removed 90% of the game when releasing the broken buggy and non-performant mess that was CS2. And I played since '99 and was an avid CAL-IM player and tourney attender. good times, especially at some of the LANs in yurop.

end of an era. fuck volvo. made many friends in CS that I am still friends with, met a lot of girls along the way, and even my fiancee I met at a LAN afterparty. but the game for me is dead. I only know one or two OGs who dont refuse to play CS2.

wasn't it the same story with CSGO? and with source the player base simply fractured, the same would be true today if CSGO servers were still online.
lots of OGs probably did quit when CSGO released, and some likely returned when the game reached a refined state, i'm sure the same will happen with CS2.

Don't know any suitable replacement. Delta Force and Tarkov are ok but different types of games. Never liked valorant and I dont play apex. cod and halo were also ruined. dota is dead. I dont game much but i'll fire up 1.4 or 1.6 or UT or Quake with the mates sometimes.

desu I disagree, because CS:GO had community stuff right away. some of us stayed on source for a while but still tried CS:GO early om, easy to keep both installed. CS2 was a major fuck u to the base, inline dropin replacement over CS:GO while shredding functionality. CS:GO only available through beta branch. so yea CS:GO was a bit rocky but the community kept playing because it was a new thing that didnt fuck over the players. CS:S was rocky over 1.6, 1.6 rocky over 1.4/5 esp with adverts being added etc but CS2 with all the fuck you and also fuck performance for LIGHTING!!!! and volumetric smoke like HAHAHAHA.

shit even dota2 had a far less rocky release when it switched to source2 engine.

I feel bad for you zooms... yea life sucks ass for us millennials but gaming in the 90s up until like 2018 was awesome, but especially before 2015. I used to watch statcraft on bootleg korean TV. LANs and internet cafes and early tournaments were for love of the games, devs were skilled and smart as fuck, and even young teen modders and hackers were truly 1337. no social media, LANs and events were just for living in the moment, not fake insta grifters and influencer garbage. gaming is so soulless now.

CSGO worked well on a plethora of computers. That was the strength of CS over the years. CS2 needs a modern computer and completely kills the concept of low spec Counterstrike which was the norm even for the pros. Nobody wants to play laggy, bloated modern CS.

to my knowledge it was never anything more than community servers, the recent update that valve pushed actually killed my favorite server and has forced them to rebuild from scraps, they are still missing a lot of mods, valve is fucking retarded
