You have a misunderstanding of what gives us power. The dollar. And that's because we can use it to offshore our inflation and debt. We can do that because the rest of the world trades with it. If we just kept to ourselves, then they wouldn't. Thus we would be much weaker. And whatever currency they did use, that country would be the major superpower.
