I think Indonesia is the most difficult country to live in. The capital city of Jakarta has the worst air pollution in the world, and the tap water is expensive and contaminated. Jakarta is sinking because many people use groundwater. Furthermore, the traffic network is not well developed and people travel by car or motorcycle, so the traffic congestion is one of the worst in the world. The worst thing is the corruption by politicians, and there is no other country in the world where corruption is as widespread as in Indonesia.

All large cities are cesspits.

I spent 5 months on Batam island (Indonesia) and it was wonderful.
It was clean, mostly modern, no crime (that I saw anyway) the people were hard working and polite.

The police were crooked - but fair.(driving license was €60)
The women were throwing themselves at us oil industry workers.
I'd go back tomorrow in a heartbeat.
