I’ve been intermittent fasting, eating 1 meal of either a steak and a potato or chicken and rice for over 2 years and was hard stuck at 340 lbs. now I’m down to 280 since March with glp-1. I work security at an hospital and regularly walk 13k-17k steps a day. Admittedly, I never looked that bad because I’m 6’6.5”. I went from eating 1 meal a day to eating once every other day and it’s helped tremendously.

Mathematically and in theory perhaps, but what happens when you eat a lot of say sugars, is that in the between time your body will adjust the metabolic rate and you will experience fatigue, severe hunger etc.
This will mean the results will be diminishing and instead of losing weight you start to lose energy.
Sure, you can push this further. When energy and metabolic rate goes down, you cut even more calories... but at that point we are talking about starvation which is both unsustainable and torturous.

Fasting and low carb diets are much more sustainable and you don't lose energy while doing it (meaning you can actually maintain weight over time)

There was a research paper on this but I forgot which one it was. For certain foods your body needs to expend more energy to digest, IIRC plant foods in general (fiber). So while while calories are an interesting metric, they don't paint the full picture and we would need a better way to determine how much energy we actually get from eating certain foods.

This is why processed foods are so fattening. Your body can easily digest refined carbs / sugars, and not to mention they also almost always come with a lot of fat too.

It's all about testosterone, when I had low test I couldn't lose weight no matter what, I didn't put on muscle, I had to eat under 2000 kcal to not become a ball of shit etc.

Ever since I started TRT I got muscle, I lost the 5kg I couldn't before, I eat 2400-2600 daily and I'm ALWAYS stable at around 89-90kg (I'm 6'0) while losing fat (I measure my belly) and putting on mass, veeery slowly but surely.

Calories in Calories out is only if you don't do shit, work in an office and slouch on the sofa as soon as you get home. If you lift/exercise 4x times a week(not even a crazy amount like those gym rats who live in the gym), eat the required protein intake and maybe have an outdoor hobby too, you don't need to starve yourself.

Exercise is nice but almost completely irrelevant to weight loss unless you're working out 8 hours or you have a labor intensive job it isn't going to do much. Literally just not eating is the easiest way to lose excess weight.

There are different ways to go about eating less and people will bikeshed on this issue. One could be eating foods high in fiber so you're eating a lot and feel full but are still in a caloric deficit. You could eat low carb high fat or high carb low fat and still lose weight.
